Western Farm Show Championship Tractor Pull!

Midnight Motorsports traveled to the famous Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri for the 2012 Western Farm Show Championship Tractor Pull.

15 competitors from both sides of the river competed in the event which was the second annual event at the Western Farm Show.

Jordan Nelson and his Midnight Madness Ford had a late draw in the class and had the opportunity to watch the earlier competitors and make any necessary changes to the setup.

The test puller was the Texas based steel bodied 41 Chevrolet known as Serious Business, Timmy Michalsky took the old chevrolet out to the lead watched as 14 others tried to best his mark.

Jordan Nelson watched as most of the competitors before him ran the right side of the track or the center.  Jordan took a gamble and spotted the sled to the left hand side.  "Our plan was to run the left side, but the truck had other ideas and took off to the right, but i didn't have to hit the brake's and was over all happy with the pass".  When asked about the first pass on a new motor combination Jordan advised "I was pleased with the way it ran.

When the dust settled on the Kemper Arena dirt,  The pride of Brownstown, Illinois had held on for a solid Third Place Finish.

" I am really happy with a third against this competition, said an elated Nelson," After what happened in Louisville", "I'm just happy for a solid pass and glad we hit the board".

NFMS Saturday Night Finals

Saturday Night's TWD Finals had an interesting mix of 8 competitors.

7 crafty veterans over 50 years old, and one young 23 year old.

Midnight Motorsports very own John Mumma drew the number one position and was the test puller.

John's first pass was cut short by the flagman, and he still rolled the front of the SSR into the sandpile.  The tractor pull committee looked at 2 other competitors before it was decided to reweight the sled.  John Mumma elected to come right back, and made a nice pass, and burned it in at 232.82.

John watched closely as his competitors took their chances and when the dust had settled, The After Midnight SSR was sitting in a very solid 4th place finish.  Orient Ohio based Jeff Writsel par layed a Thursday night win into the finals, and came home with the Sweep.  In second place was PPL regular Tony Tatum and his Parts City Machine. Rounding out the top three, was the Petro Family out of Camden Ohio, with their Kathy's Komplaint T-bucket.

"I am tickled to get the Friday night win, and a solid 4th place against a great group of 2 wheelers", said John Mumma after the pull.

NFMS Friday Night

Friday Night 2/17/12 marked the second night of competition for the 6,200 2WD class, with another stellar round of 15 trucks making the call in Freedom Hall.  The track responded just as it had the previous evening, with the main object being finesse, and finding a good hole shot, though overall the trucks seemed to bite the track a little better than they did Thursday Night.

When the dust settled on Freedom Hall, Midnight Motorsports was in a bittersweet position. John Mumma and his "After Midnight" Chevrolet SSR defended last years individual prelim crown with an event win, while Midnight Motorsports other hopeful tonight, Jordan Nelson suffered catastrophic engine damage and finished 13th.

Rounding out the transfer spots tonight were Randy Petro and his Camden,Ohio based "Kathy's Komplaint", the "Missouri Gambler" T-Bucket of Bill Oberste, and rounding out the top 4 to the Saturday night finals was Andy Teasley aboard the "Hytek" Ford.

Stay tuned for further updates from the Saturday Sessions, and as always, thanks for visiting us.

NFMS Thursday Night

Thursday Night marked the first round of action for the 6200 lb Two Wheel Drive Trucks.

15 of the best of the best in our sport made the call in famous Freedom Hall.

The track was a fickle animal tonight and required the utmost precision.  Midnight Motorsports had two cracks at the Louisville dirt tonight, with Jared Nelsons Midnight Revenger coming out of the number 4 spot, and Jeremy Nelsons Midnight Gambler drew a late number (14).   The competitors threw all they could at the track, and in the end Jeff Writsel and his Orient, Ohio based "At it again" Chevy C Cab took the top honor.  Jacob Fuqua's newly Painted Trax machine was number 2 tonight. Rounding out the transfer spots in 3 and 4 were crafty PPL veterans Wayne Sullivan in his Big Ed Red S10 and Tony Tatum's Bardstown, KY based Parts City Chevrolet

Midnight Motorsports came up short tonight against an incredibly tough group of competitors at the National Farm Machinery Show.  Jared Nelson took 9th, and Jeremy Nelson wound up in the 13th spot.  Congratulations to the top 4 on making it into what will be a tough Saturday Night final round.

Midnight Motorsports will have another crack at the tough Louisville dirt on Friday Night, when John Mumma, and Jordan Nelson make their passes.

Stay tuned to our website for further updates.
